Can Mods get paid?

Right now, Reddit specifically bans moderators from any type of financial payment for their duties as Reddit moderators, even from 3rd parties like Threddit.   This is outlined in Reddit's Moderator Code of Conduct, as well as Reddit's User Agreement.

To quote Reddit directly, "You may not perform moderation actions in return for any form of compensation, consideration, gift, or favor from third parties." 

Threddit will not take any actions that violate Reddit's user policies or code of conduct.  Threddit exists to enrich Reddit experiences, not defy their rules. 

However, we do encourage Mods to communicate and advocate with Reddit regarding their policies.

So Where Does That Leave Mods?

As Moderates of your community on Reddit, Threddit will allow you to recommend proceeds from your Threddit to be donated to a qualified non profit.  While this model doesn't directly enrich moderators, it does fit nicely with the goals of Threddit and Reddit to build communities for good.

How to designate donations for your Threddit.

Simply email the Threddit team mods@threddit.com, and we will work with you to setup your community donations.

How to create a Threddit for my subreddit?
